It’s nearly that time of year again when the world’s largest Camping and 4WD touring show takes place between the 20th – 23rd of June 2019 in Bad Kissingen in Germany. Having now attended the show over the last few years it never ceases to amaze us just how big and well organised this show actually is. With over 300 exhibitors and anything between 50,000 and 55,0000 people attending, this show has something for everyone.

If you are into camping and 4WD touring there really is no other show like it on the planet, at the showgrounds you will be treated to approximately 110,000 square meters of back to back camping and touring vehicles and equipment. Everything from all the latest roof top tents, specialised 4WD camping equipment vehicles of all shapes and sizes, camp cooking equipment and the list goes on. The show has been blessed in recent years with hot sunny weather so if you are attending for the first time bring your shorts and your sunscreen.

The show grounds also provides various types of entertainment where visitors can get a ride in some serious 4WD vehicles on the custom made tracks, the kids can also get a ride on some all terrain junior vehicles. If you get hungry or thirsty which no doubt you will, the show provides plenty of choice when it comes to food and beverages.

If it’s your first visit to the Abenteuer & Allrad you have to try the traditional currywurst and pommes which is always a popular choice and is served in the main food hall, all of this coupled with some cold German beers and lots of entertainment on the main stage and you will not be disappointed.

For the fifth year in a row you will be able to attend a series of lectures. These lectures start with Konstantin Abert and “Auf dem Landweg nach Australien” on the 20th of June. On the 21st of June Thomas Rahn and Sabine Hoppe will share their experiences from exploring South America followed by Friedl Swoboda on the 22nd of June who will tell tales of his globe-trotting around the world in his 6×6. And also don’t miss Reiner Harscher who will share his experience from exploring Africa.

For many people this is a ‘must-go’ annual event with many travellers visiting this show ever since it started over twenty one years ago. Many return visitors choose to stay in the designated shows campground that is located just outside Bad Kissingen. The campsite is home to possibly the largest gathering of 4WD tourers in the world and is a show all by itself. You will be amazed by the sheer size and number of 4WD rigs, camper trucks and camping tourers on display at the campsite and the evening atmosphere is always magic with the smell of barbecues, the sound of music and chatter amongst travellers as they share their stories from their adventures around the world.

The temporary campsite has toilets and you can also have a shower on site for a reasonable €2.The temporary site is on grassland and when the weather is good you will have no issues but if it gets wet, expect muddy conditions.
Reservations for the CAMP-AREA are not possible so if you are planning on meeting friends, there is no guarantee that you will be able to park and set up camp together, best advice is to arrive at the same time in order to be guaranteed that you can set up camp in the same place.

You will have access to a free shuttle bus from the campground that will take you to the show ground; these buses run regularly so you should not have to wait too long for a bus at any given time. For more information on the show and the campsite please click here.
